Outspoken rapper Kanye West has again drawn ire from fans after applauding Jared Kushner for his role in brokering normalisation agreements between Israel and Gulf states, the UAE and Bahrain.

"Jared Kushner will have done more for peace in the Middle East than anyone in 30 years," West said in a tweet on Tuesday.

The rapper and fashion designer was responding to a tweet by Breitbart editor Josh Caplan citing an AFP report that US President Donald Trump "expects Saudi Arabia will join move to recognise Israel".

On Tuesday, officials from Bahrain, the UAE and Israel gathered in the White House to sign peace agreements brokered by the Trump administration.

The pacts make the UAE and Bahrain the third and fourth Arab nations to normalise ties with Israel and have been met with fierce condemnation from Palestinians and supporters across the Arab world.

West, who earlier this year entered the presidential race as an independent candidate, has been an outspoken supporter of Trump over the course of his administration but renounced his support for the president in July.

Last month, Forbes reported that the controversial rapper chats nearly "daily" with Kushner, son-in-law and senior adviser to the president.

West's tweet has gained thousands of retweets and replies, many of them condemning his praise for Kushner.

"Except Jared Kushner has done NOTHING for peace in the Middle East, nor is there any indication he ever intends to do so, and it's not his job to do it anyway," Twitter user @SethFromThe716 hit back. "Being the president's son-in-law doesn't entitle someone to make executive-level decisions about the future of nations."

Twitter user @samsanderson123 added: "Any peace agreement that doesn't include peace between Israel and Palestine is a show."

Phillip Bump, a journalist for The Washington Post, reflected suspicions around West's candidacy: "Definitely the sentiment of a real candidate to oppose Trump."

Others responded more succintly.

"Man shut the f*ck up," responded writer Andray Domise.
