Primary win by Muslim woman candidate part of progressive trend in Delaware
Delaware saw a slew of progressive wins this week, including the re-election of the first practicing Muslim in the state's legislature.

Madinah Wilson-Anton, the first practicing Muslim elected to Delaware's state legislature, has won her Democratic primary re-election this week with a solid margin, part of a continued trend of voters choosing progressive candidates in the state.
Wilson-Anton, who has served in the Delaware House of Representatives for District 26 since 2021, after she narrowly beat a 22-year incumbent, won Tuesday's Democratic primary by a 30-point margin.
A member of the Democratic Socialists of America and the endorsement pick for the Working Families Party, the has focused on progressive policies, such as supporting education, the environment, healthcare and affordable housing.
She has also worked to officially recognise Muslim holidays in the state.
Wilson-Anton grew up in Delaware, where she went to grade school and attended the University of Delaware.
While studying for her master's in public policy there, she joined the Biden Institute upon its establishment, and praised the then-future president and fellow Delawarean as an inspiration.
With her solid win in a majority-blue district, she is expected to win in the general midterm election in November.
