The Black Lives Matter UK movement has called for justice for Palestine, as Israel seeks to annex the occupied West Bank and British politicans have been silenced for standing against Israel's plans.

"As Israel moves forward with the annexation of the West Bank, and mainstream British politics is gagged of the right to critique Zionism, and Israel’s settler colonial pursuits, we loudly and clearly stand beside our Palestinian comrades.

FREE PALESTINE", the group tweeted.

The group then released a Twitter thread with information on Israel's illegal occupation of the West Bank, saying the fight against racism and colonialism must be universal.

"We stand with Palestinians at this most urgent time, and against the accelerated attacks on their rights laid out above and in many other sources."

"Ours is a united fight against colonialism in all its forms. Justice is indivisible," they added, adding quotes by iconic academic Angela Davis on Palestine.

The tweets received a lot of support, prompting widespread discussions on Black-Palestinian solidarity.

"Palestinians have long supported Black people’s struggle against racism. There has been a very important connection between the two struggles for many decades," said organisation Palestine SunBird.

Black Lives Matter's comment on British politics being "gagged" comes days after a leading opposition party member was sacked for sharing a message in support of Black lives and Palestinians, under claims of her endorsing "anti-Semitic conspiracy theories."

Rebecca Long-Bailey was asked to step down as shadow education secretary last week after endorsing an interview with an actress who claimed US police accused of killing George Floyd learned their tactics from Israel forces.

Israel has occupied the West Bank illegally since 1967, and commits various abuses against Palestinian civilians, human rights groups say.

Israel's plans to annex approximately one third of the West Bank was greenlighted by US President Donald Trump's so-called "Deal of the Century". The plan also envisages the creation of a severely restricted Palestinian state.
