A boulevard named after Saudi Arabian King Salman has been opened in Lebanon's Tripoli area, according to local media reports.

The road was unveiled in the presence of Saudi and Lebanese political and diplomatic officials.

The 1092m long, 26m wide avenue is to be found in the area of ​​Rasheed Karami International Fair in south-west Tripoli, extending the autostrada in both directions.

"Saudi Arabia will remain a guarantor in crises and constitute a friendly ally and keen country to Lebanon and its unity and Arabism," said Lebanese MP Mohammed Safadi. 

Safadi also sang the praises of King Salman and Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their "renaissance, openness and development".

Saudis took to Twitter to thank Lebanon for the opening of the boulevard.
