Muslims recalling accounts of Islamophobia they have faced is depressingly common these days. With the rise in Islamophobic attacks and a strong support system that can be found in the nicer parts of the internet, victims of Islamophobia share their story in hope for support, solidarity and in some cases, justice.

This time, someone well-known than the average person was victim of a hate crime.

Noor Tagouri is an American journalist of Libyan origin who sparked controversy late last year for being the first hijab-clad woman to feature on men's lifestyle magazine Playboy.

She recently was victim of Islamophobic abuse:

Her Facebook post received over 700 reactions with many upset over the way she was treated.

"I'm so sorry Noor! You are in my heart, and prayers. May the bigots of the world have the fiery angry in their hearts put out", one comment said.

Some even shared similar stories, with victims being as young as nine-years-old.

"This happened to my sweet 9 yr old a few years ago. They were talking about 9/11 at school and when the kids found out he was Muslim, they started telling him that he should kill himself. He came home in tears," a mother wrote in her comment.

People on Twitter also showed their support:

Some had even said that she should have reacted more harshly to the Islamophobe:

As with most accounts of Islamophobia, there will always be someone denying the account, or trying to legitimise it.

In this case, the most ridiculous one goes to Scott who said:

"She simply said he whispered it, not that he whispered it to her. Sometimes I say that to myself when I make a big mistake."

Sure Scott, sure.
