Karim Traboulsi

Karim is the Managing Editor of The New Arab since May 2019. He holds an MA in Translation Studies focusing on journalism in translation from Arabic. He has spent the last twelve years working as editor, writer, and translator in Middle East-focused news media, including six years with The New Arab as editor then managing editor.

Areas of focus: Lebanese politics, political economy in the Middle East and North Africa, media studies, and disinformation.

Paul McLoughlin

Paul is a senior news editor with The New Arab and author of Syria Insight, a regular feature on TNA. Paul graduated with a BA in Modern Middle Eastern History and worked in the Middle East as a journalist, including Oman and Jordan, for close to a decade before joining The New Arab prior to its launch in 2014.

Areas of focus: Syria, Iran and Gulf issues.

Katy Stone

Katy is The New Arab’s opinion editor. She is a US-based British editor with over a decade of experience in digital media and a focus on the MENA region.

She has worked as a translator and editor for international news outlets and human rights NGOs. In her role as opinion editor, she has made it a priority to showcase women's voices from the region, and is committed to audience and leadership strategies that serve, reflect and engage TNA's readers.

Since moving to the US in 2018, her interest in foreign policy and national security has also led her to report from Guantanamo Bay, and interview members of Congress.

Areas of focus: US foreign policy in MENA, women's rights, digital futures in democracy and journalism.

Sheeffah Shiraz

Sheeffah is The New Arab’s features editor. She is a London-based journalist who studied Journalism and Economics at City University, London. She started her journalism career in print working as a features writer for a women’s lifestyle magazine for over four years. She later moved into news journalism online, and was a news editor at TNA before taking over the features desk in 2015.

Charlie Hoyle

Charlie is a British journalist and news editor at The New Arab with more than 10 years’ experience in digital media, research and human rights. He is acting features editor at present.

Following work with NGOs, rights groups, research organisations and think tanks in London and the Middle East, he spent five years as a reporter and senior editor with Ma’an News Agency covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He is a modern languages graduate and holds an MSc in Violence, Conflict and Development.

Areas of focus: Middle Eastern politics, conflict resolution, security and human rights.
