IS claimed responsibility for a bombing that killed four people at a Shia Muslim mosque in Saudi Arabia on Friday, the second such attack in a week.

The Islamic State group has claimed a suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia that killed at least four people.

The claim for Friday's bombing, which was posted on a Facebook page used by the extremist group, said a "soldier of the caliphate" identified as Abu Jandal al-Jazrawi, blew himself up among in Dammam.

It was the second attack against a Shia mosque in Saudi; a suicide bombing last week killed 21 people and the extremist group claimed responsibility for that attack too.

The official Saudi Press Agency, quoting officials, said the bomber tried to enter the Mosque in Dammam, a Shia dominated city, during Friday prayers and detonated his bomb in the parking lot after being stopped by security guards.

It added that guards approached the car as it was parking and that the driver detonated the bomb. It was unclear if the bomber was among the four.
