Kurdish rebels have attacked a Turkish military convoy in south eastern Turkey, killing three soldiers, according to Turkish state media.

The attack by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) took place on Tuesday when a road-side bomb exploded as a military vehicle was passed by. Militants then opened fire on the security forces, Anadolu Agency said.

Another soldier and a government-paid village guard were wounded in the attack near the village of Arakoy, in Sirnak province which borders Iraq.

Hostilities have flared in Turkey, wrecking a fragile peace process launched in 2012 with the Kurds. At least 31 people have been killed in the past 10 days, most of them soldiers.

Turkish jets have also carried out air strikes on PKK and Islamic State group targets in northern Iraq as part of its anti-terror campaign.
