Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) [Doctors without Borders] has warned that the humanitarian scenario in Aleppo has reached "crisis point".

In a press release, dated Tuesday and released on Twitter on Wednesday, the aid organisation expressed their "deep fears" for the future and called on all parties to cease fighting.

"This is one of the worst crises MSF has witnessed in years," said Teresa Sancristoval, head of MSF's emergency unit in Aleppo.

"We remind all sides that even war has rules.

"It is paramount that all parties allow people to flee to safety, allow the evacuation of the sick and wounded."

MSF reported earlier this month that fighting in east Aleppo was causing births of more premature babies, as mothers became more stressed.

They also reported that formula milk had run out in rebel-held areas, besieged by regime forces for more than a hundred days.

There are only a small handful of doctors left to treat an estimated 100,000 civilians trapped in east Aleppo.

The Syria Campaign reports that regime forces killed 19,594 children in Syria since fighting broke out in 2011, compared to 668 killed by rebel forces.
