Crowds celebrate return of dead Palestinian to hometown

A Palestinian protester died in hospital on Thursday night after he was shot in the head by Israeli forces three days ago.
Mohammed Fethi Kanaan, 25, was protesting in his hometown of Hizma, near Jerusalem, on Monday over the new security measures added to the outside of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
Kanaan finally succumbed to his injuries after receiving treatment in the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, the Palestinian Health Authority said.
Hundreds of people lined the streets of Hizma, chanting "God is the Greatest", as Kanaan's body was returned to the town on Friday morning.

Kanaan is the fifth Palestinian to be killed by Israeli aggression in the past two weeks, while the Palestinian Red Crescent estimates that approximately 1,090 Palestinians have been injured.
Israeli forces have responded to an outbreak of Palestinian protests over the past two week with excessive violence, according to observers and the United Nations.
Israeli border guards helped strengthen the police's presence across occupied Palestinian territories on Friday, as authorities brace themselves for a repeat of last week's violent clashes following Friday prayers.
The Palestinian envoy to the UN warned the security council on Tuesday that the situation around the al-Aqsa Mosque was at a "tipping point".
"The stoking of a religious conflict is rapidly unfolding as Israel persists its illegal actions in occupied East Jerusalem," said Riyad Mansour.
Mosques across the West Bank have again urged worshippers to head to al-Aqsa to attend Friday prayers there.
