An Egyptian television anchor has declared the main rival to Turkey's president in Sunday's presidential election as the winner of the vote despite official results favouring Erdogan.

Ahmed Moussa, a staunchly pro-government and anti-Islamist broadcaster, made the declaration on Sunday on his nighttime political show after Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the landmark elections.

"What has happened is against religious law. The Turkish people today voted for the opposition all the votes in the ballots were for the opposition," Moussa said.

"Muharrem Ince has to come out today and declare that he is the president of Turkey. The legitimate president is Ince not Erdogan,"

Moussa accused Erdogan of electoral fraud and aired alleged footage of ballot stuffing during the presidential and parliamentary elections.

Moussa is a longtime critic of Erdogan and has made wild accusations against the Turkish leader in the past, such as blaming him for extremist attacks in Britain.

Relations between Cairo and Ankara have been strained ever since the Egyptian military forcibly removed the country's first democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Erdogan was a main backer Morsi and has long called for Egyptian authorities to release him from prison.

Erdogan on Monday celebrated winning five more years in office with sweeping new powers after a decisive election victory, as Ince accepted the outcome despite bitter complaints over the conduct of the campaign.

Ince of the Republican People's Party (CHP) challenged Erdogan with an energetic campaign.

According to results published by Turkish state news agency Anadolu, Erdogan won 52.5 percent of the vote, with Ince trailing with 30.7 percent.
