Gulf states Qatar and Oman have condemned an attack on a military parade in Iran that left 29 people dead and 57 wounded in the southwestern city of Ahvaz.

Qatar's state-run news agency circulated the condemnation in a statement on Saturday, sending condolences to the families of the victims.

"Qatar reiterates its firm stance rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of motives and reasons," the statement said.

Similarly, the Oman News Agency condemned the attack in a press statement.

Iran has blamed Arab separatists for Sunday's attack on a parade commemorating the beginning of the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

Arab separatist movement, the Ahwazi Democratic Popular Front (ADPF), and the Islamic State (IS) group have both claimed responsibility for the rare assault.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards have claimed the attackers were funded by regional rival Saudi Arabia.

State media in Saudi Arabia have yet to acknowledge the attack, though a Saudi-linked, Farsi-language channel based in the United Kingdom carried an interview with an Ahvazi activist claiming responsibility for Saturday's attack.

Saudi powerful crown prince Mohammed bin Salman had previously issued threats to take the fight into Iran, drawing immediate condemnation from Tehran at the time.
