An Iraqi Kurdish journalist and his family were shot and killed by unknown gunmen in the city of Sulaymaniyah in northeastern Iraq.

A Kurdish journalist and his family, including a young child, were killed in northeastern Iraq on Wednesday.
Amanj Baban, his wife Lana Mohammedi and their young son Hano, were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Sulaymaniyah city, Xinhua reported, quoting the head of broadcaster NRT where Baban worked.
"The victim has no enemy ... We are waiting for the investigations by the security forces in Sulaymaniyah," NRT head Shwan Adel told Xinhua.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) confirmed their deaths in a statement to Rudaw.
"Today unfortunately NRT presenter Amanj Baban, his wife Lana Muhammad, and their son Hano were all murdered in Sulaimani after they have been targeted with gunshots," Jutiar Adil, KRG spokesperson, said in a statement Wednesday.

It is unclear whether the killing is related to Baban's work as a journalist.
Baban presented a popular program entitled "Without Borders" on NRT. His wife Mohammedi used to work as an anchor at another local channel.
