The man was reportedly killed although the cause of death remains unconfirmed.

The sources identified the deceased as Ahmed Yousef Mahawesh, a resident of the Maghazi refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.

The young man entered Egypt on March 5 through the Rafah crossing to receive treatment from an old injury sustained in a conflict with Israel, the sources added.

The sources revealed that a group of identification papers were found with the body.

Palestinian sources confirmed that the young man was killed and confirmed that he was a member of the "Palestinian resistance", alluding to the armed wing of Hamas, without giving further details.

Two weeks ago Egyptian authorities released four young men, said to be members of the Qassam Brigades, who were kidnapped in Sinai more than three years ago.
