A Palestinian woman was killed in the early hours of the morning Thursday by an Israeli settler in the village of Taqoua near Bethlehem.

Fatima Suleiman, a 42 year old teacher, was driving her car to work when she was hit by a truck driven by the settler and thrown out of her vehicle.

The settler then rammed her with the truck, killing her, and escaped, according to witnesses.

Dozens of people attended the teacher’s funeral. Israeli security forces later used tear gas against Palestinian residents of the village protesting the killing near an Israeli settlement, injuring ten.

A 15-year old Palestinian boy was also injured by a bullet fired by Israeli security forces.

Approximately 600,000 settlers live in the West Bank in settlements built illegally by Israel since 1967. The Palestinian population of the West Bank is estimated at approximately 2,750,000.
