A second Palestinian protester has died from Israeli gunfire during weekly demonstrations on the Gaza border, authorities said early Saturday.

A 31-year-old demonstrator passed away from his wounds after being shot by Israeli forces during Friday's Gaza protest, the Palestinian enclave's health ministry reported.

Earlier, a 19-year-old Palestinian protester died from wounds suffered at the demonstration close to Gaza's perimeter fence with Israel on the same day.

Demonstration have been held by Palestinian protesters on the besieged territory's perimeter fence with Israel every Friday since last year, to demand an end to Israel's blockade of Gaza and the right for refugees to return to their homes.

Two Hamas fighters were killed during Israeli bombing of the besieged Palestinian enclave, Gaza authorities said on Friday.

Three more members of Hamas - the Islamist movement which controls the strip - were also injured in the airstrike which took place in central Gaza.

Israel said that one of its soldiers was moderately injured and another lightly hurt following gunfire from southern Gaza earlier in the day.

Palestinian media reported that children, a journalist and three medics were injured by Israeli forces during the demonstration.

At least 268 Palestinians have been killed and over 23,000 injured since the first Great Return March protest was held on 30 March 2018.
