Three Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Friday following weekly border protests, with two Israeli soldiers also lightly injured from gunfire.

Two Hamas fighters were killed during Israeli bombing of the besieged Palestinian enclave, Gaza authorities said on Friday.

Three more members of Hamas - the Islamist movement which controls the strip - were also injured in the airstrike which took place in central Gaza.

Hours later and a Palestinian teenager - Raed Khalil Teir - died from his injuries sustained from Israeli gunfire during a demonstration on the border by Palestinian protesters against Israel's blockade of Gaza and the right for refugees to return to their homes.

Israel said that one of its soldiers was moderately injured and another lightly hurt following gunfire from southern Gaza earlier in the day.

Palestinian media reported that children, a journalist and three medics were injured by Israeli forces during the demonstration, which have been held almost weekly on Gaza's border every Friday since 2018.

At least 268 Palestinians have been killed and over 23,000 injured since the first Great Return March protest was held on 30 March 2018.
