Israeli forces have arrested several Palestinians, including a teenage girl, from a neighbourhood in occupied East Jerusalem, while banning others from entering.

Israeli forces raided the occupied neighbourhood of al-Issawiya in the early hours of Monday and detained seven Palestinians.

Sixteen-year-old Nagham Illian was detained in the middle of the night, along with three other extended family members.

Teenager Mutasem Obeid was arrested in a parallel raid in the neighbourhood along with his cousin Fadi, who was beaten up by Israeli forces, according to Palestinian Authority's official news agency Wafa.

A seventh resident who was identified as being from the Dari family was also detained.

Meanwhile, an Israeli court banned five Palestinians from the occupied neighbourhood for two weeks.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center said the five Palestinians who were arrested by Israel agreed to stay away from al-Issawiya as a precondition to their release from custody.

They were identified as Ahmad Zumurrud, Ahmad Khdour, Wadee Elayyan, Malek Mustafa and Nayef Ebeid.

Al-Issawiya has been a regular target of Israeli security operations.

Earlier this month, Israeli forces shot and killed a 21-year old Palestinian, sparking weeks of tension between the occupying forces and Palestinians.
