A US journalist says convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein once boasted of his relationship with Saudi Arabia's controversial Crown Prime Mohammed bin Salman.

Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein boasted of his relationship with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the year before his death, acording to a New York Times report.

Recounting an meeting with the disgraced financier at his Manhattan mansion in August 2018, American journalist James B. Stewart said Epstien had a full-length photo of Prince Mohammed in his possession.

Epstein, who is believed to have committed suicide while awaiting trial in the US on fresh sex trafficking charges, reportedly boasted that the Saudi royal, who he referred to as "MbS," visited his residence "many times" and that they "spoke often".

The sudden rise of MbS, who is seen as Saudi Arabia's de-facto ruler, has been marked by controversy - most notably the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul.

Stewart also recalls seeing several other photographs of Epstein posing with public figures who have themselves been at the centre of their own sex scandals, including Bill Clinton and Hollywood director Woody Allen.

Epstein, 66, was found dead on Saturday morning in his cell at Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional Center. He had been awaiting trial on charges that he sexually abused underage girls.

He had previously been convicted as a sex felon and served a 13-month prison term in 2009.

The millionaire financier's death has sparked rumours of a conspiracy and foul play due to his high-profile connections and his claims of having compromising information about key public figures.

Middle East movements

In the days after his demise, further details and allegations about the millionaire financier's life have emerged, including details about the movement of his private jet.

According to data provided to US news website INSIDER by ADS-B Exchange, one of Epstein's jets travelled from Paris toward Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on November 7, 2016. It was later tracked moving toward southern Jordan.

The movements of Epstein's aircraft are significant as at least one of his accusers, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, claims Epstein abused her on board one of his aircraft and used free trips to lure his victims.
