The Israeli military says three rockets have been fired from the besieged Gaza Strip into southern Israel.

Israeli aerial defence batteries intercepted two of the missiles Saturday, the military said.

Israeli media reported that shrapnel from Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile system landed on the patio of a house. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

It was the second incident of rocket fire from Gaza in the past 24 hours. Early on Saturday morning, Israeli aircraft hit at least three targets belonging to Hamas after a rocket launched from Gaza had landed in Israel.

Israel blames Hamas, which has ruled the Gaza Strip since 2007, for any attack originating from the besieged Palestinian enclave.

On Friday, 63 Palestinians, including 17 children, were injured by Israeli bullets and tear gas at the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
