The Saudi-led coalition says it destroyed two Houthi drones.
A Saudi-led coalition said on Tuesday it has downed at least two drones launched by Houthi "terrorists" from Yemen.

Coalition spokesperson Col. Turki Al-Maliki said one of the drones originated from Sanaa, which is held by the rebels, and was aimed at the southwestern Saudi city of Khamis Mushay.

The drones were shot down just before dawn on Monday, Al-Maliki said.

A third drone was reportedly downed in Yemeni airspace, which was targeting al-Jawf in northern Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis Al-Masirah TV station did not announce the launch of any drones.

On Monday, Yemen's Houthis claimed they struck an "important" military target in the Saudi capital Riyadh, after a series of attacks claimed by the rebels over the weekend.

Al-Malki at time dismissed the reports as "fake and deceptive".

Saudi Arabia said on the weekend it intercepted six missiles fired by the Yemeni rebels at the southern city of Jizan on Sunday.
The Saudi-led coalition intervened in the Yemen war in March 2015, after Houthi rebels overran the capital in September 2014 and moved south.

The Saudi-led intervention in Yemen has led to thousands of civilians killed and plunged the country to the brink of famine.
