The British ambassador to Kuwait has apologised on Thursday for a tweet advising Britons stranded in the country without money due to coronavirus restrictions to seek charity.
The now-deleted tweet, which was posted by the official account of the UK embassy to Kuwait, apparently sought to convey that the embassy cannot provide financial assistance to UK nationals stuck in Kuwait.
"If you are stuck in Kuwait and you don't have enough money, please seek assistance through friends/family or local charities in Kuwait like Bait Alzakat or Salvation Army," the now-deleted tweet read.

After criticism on social media, British ambassador to Kuwait Michael Davenport issued an apology on Twitter.

Earlier this month, Kuwait cancelled all commercial flights to and from Kuwait City International Airport, in addition to barring foreign ships.
