Israel's military budget may be reduced significantly due to the economic fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Citing a study contucted by the Israeli army, Israel's largest newspaper Yediot Aharonot, said that Israel's defence budget could be reduced by between 10 and 15 percent due to the coronavirus.

Israeli army Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi had previously prepared a budget under the assumption that approximately $9.7 billion could be allocated to the army, without counting the estimated $1.1 billion military aid from the United States.

Israel's military activities have continued during the pandemic. It has recently struck Hamas positions in the Gaza strip and targets in Syria.
