Biden-Harris administration would provide unconditional aid for Israel, Kamala Harris tells pro-Israel donors

US Democratic Party vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris has assured pro-Israel Jewish voters that a Joe Biden administration will not condition aid to Israel on its human rights record.

The California Senator made the remarks during a virtual event with Jewish Democratic Party donors on Wednesday night.

“Joe has made it clear he will not tie security assistance to any political decisions that Israel makes, and I couldn’t agree more,” Harris was quoted by The Jerusalem Post as saying.

“As vice president, Joe Biden helped ensure unwavering support for Israel’s security,” she added. “During the Obama-Biden administration, he was a key advocate in securing support for life-saving technologies, which I have seen.”

Harris' assurances to pro-Israel Democrats follow suggestions from in recent months from other Democratic lawmakers that the US could withold aid to Israel over its human rights violations against Palestinians.

Last month, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders signed a letter calling for the $3.8 billion annual aid given to Israel to be made conditional on the Zionist state ending its violation of Palestinian human rights.

Harris also assured the donors that a Biden-Harris presidency will continue to prioritise Israel's security.

“I pledge to you the Biden-Harris administration will sustain our unbreakable commitment to Israel’s security, including the unprecedented military and intelligence cooperation pioneered during the Obama-Biden administration and the guarantee that Israel will always maintain its qualitative military edge.”
