Israeli forces detain 14-year-old boy in overnight West Bank raids

Israeli police made incursions into the Palestinian cities of Ramallah and Jerusalem, detaining a 14-year-old boy during another raid on Al-Arroub refugee camp in Hebron, according to WAFA news agency.

Israeli forces were accused of ransacking another home in Hebron's Deir Al-Asal village, southwest of the city, a common procedure during raids, activists say.

In Jerusalem, Israeli police arrested a young man near Bab Al-Sahira, also known as Herod's Gate, in Jerusalem's Old City, along with another young man in the nearby Shufat refugee camp.

Soldiers swooped on Kafr Malek village, east of Ramallah, rounding up two Palestinians and seizing a vehicle, according to the news agency.

Decades of illegal occupation

Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967, in defiance of international law, and commits various abuses against Palestinian civilians, human rights groups say.

More than 600,000 Israeli Jews live in settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, in constructions considered illegal under international law.

The Oslo agreement of 1995 divided the occupied West Bank into three: Area A, Area B and Area C.

Area A is under the administrative and security control of the Palestinian Authority (PA). Area B's administration is controlled by the PA, with Israel controlling security. Area C is under full administrative and security control of Israel.
