A stabbing attack after prayers in a mosque in Tirana has shocked Albania.
At least five worshippers were injured following a stabbing rampage at an Albanian mosque on Monday, according to local media reports.

The attack took place at the Dine Hoxha mosque in the capital Tirana after afternoon prayers.

None of the victims, aged between 22 and 35, suffered serious injuries, according to Euronews.

"Police services have given first aid to the injured citizens, who were transported to the hospital for medical assistance and are out of danger for life," authorities said in a statement, according to the broadcaster.

Although police did not reveal a motive of the suspect, the man is said to be a 34-year-old with a history of depression and wanted for another stabbing in March, according to local media.

These reports are yet to be confirmed by authorities.

Euronews said Monday's stabbing is believed to be the first attack at a place of worship in Muslim-majority Albania.

"I hope it is not a terrorist act but an unbalanced person," the imam of the mosque Ahmed Kalaja told local media.
