The planned expulsion of 38 Palestinians from the historic neigbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah, increased flare-ups over the Bab-Ar-Rahma prayer hall in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, and renewed incitement from ultra-nationalist Israeli groups has prompted fresh protests in Occupied East Jerusalem.

Palestinians, with increasing international support, are resisting increased Israeli repression from both settler communities and forces, who have clamped down on the protests with rubber bullets, stun grenades, and more.

Within the context of increased tensions in the city, the 10 May "Jerusalem Day" - when Israeli nationalists traditionally parade Jerusalem to celebrate the 1967 Arab-Israeli war victory that saw the capture of the city - has the potential to spark a fresh escalation of violence.

Palestinians will be following a decision from Israel's high court about the fate of the Sheikh Jarrah families, as well as the freedom to pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound with end of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr celebrations expected to begin on Wednesday 12 May.
