The people of the UK headed to the polls on Thursdsy to vote for who they want to represent them in parliament.

The outcome will decide which political party or partries will form the next British government.

 The election comes at a time when the British are grappling with their place in a fast changing world and the divergent visions being proposed indicate what path the national is likely to pursue, both at home and abroad.
