While the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas expressed his "sorrow and sadness" about the death of former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, many Palestinians reacted differently.

In the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian man remembers Peres as a war criminal.

"He carried out a lot of massacres against the Arabs, the Muslims and the Palestinian people," Hossam Qiblawi, a shop owner in Ramallah said.

Saber Farraj, another Palestinian in Ramallah, was bewildered at world leaders' claims that Peres was a peacemaker.

"The world sees with one eye and keeps the other one closed. How could a man of peace kill children? How could he get nuclear power?" he said.
