Dubai seeks to cut carbon emissions by 30% by 2030, says government media office
Dubai has announced its ambition to cut carbon emissions by 30 percent in eight years time, amid the United Arab Emirates' wider pledge to have net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Dubai plans to cut carbon emissions by 30 percent by the end of 2030, the emirate's government media office said on Sunday on its website.

The plan is part of a broader strategy, announced by the United Arab Emirates in October, to achieve carbon emission neutrality by 2050, the office said.

Dubai, a major regional business, financial and logistics hub, is the second-largest and wealthiest emirate making up the seven-member UAE federation, following oil-rich Abu Dhabi.

The UAE's CO2 emissions (measured in metric tonnes per capita) have decreased steadily in the 21st century, from around 27 in 2000 to 20 in 2018 according to data from the World Bank.
