Egypt, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah wins Golden Foot Award
Liverpool forward Salah did not go on stage to accept the award in Monaco despite attending the ceremony. His wife Magi Sadeq accepted the award on his behalf instead for reasons he has not yet disclosed.
The striker will leave a footprint cast on the seafront Champions' Promenade in Monte-Carlo, the Golden Foot awards body said.
The award, established in 2003 under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco, is among the football world's most prestigious accolades.
Ten players were nominated for this year's award including Lionel Messi, Romelu Lukaku, Neymar, and Sergio Ramos.
The Liverpool star was also recently shortlisted for the Best FIFA Men's Player by a panel of experts from men's and women's football, and described as the best player in the world by his team's manager Jurgen Klopp last month.
