An Israeli army brigade stationed in the Palestinian city of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank released a video on Thursday wishing Muslims a Happy Ramadan.

"We are the observers of the Shomron Brigades (Nablus region) and we wish you a Happy Ramadan!" a group of female Israeli soldiers say in the video, making heart signs with their hands.

The greetings were posted on the Twitter account of Maj. Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army spokesman in Arabic.

"The Shomron Brigade in #Nablus wish you a happy Ramadan. What do you want to say to them?" he wrote.

Most of the respondents mocked the video, highlighting the continued Israeli military occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem.

Palestinians in the West Bank have lived under Israeli military rule since 1967.

The Israeli army's top Arabic-language spokesman has a huge reach on Facebook and Twitter, with more than 1.5 million followers, but is routinely denounced by Palestinians.

Adraee often references verses from the Quran to denounce protests in Gaza or tire-burning during demonstrations.

The Arab media division which he heads is viewed as a powerful propaganda tool in Israel's social media campaign for strategic influence.
