Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry left Egypt on Monday for France and the United Kingdom to hold talks with his counterparts on bilateral, regional and global issues, according to local news.

Shoukry will meet with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister will also participate in the opening ceremony of the Osiris exhibition at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris on Tuesday.

Members of the now-banned Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood have in the past warned they would take legal action against Egyptian government officials who entered the UK.

British Prime Minister David Cameron has recently come under fire for inviting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to visit the UK "later this year" to discuss mutual interests.

On Saturday, Sisi ended his weeklong Asian tour of Singapore, China and Indonesia by meeting with Joko Widodo, his Indonesian counterpart. The two discussed security and economic cooperation as well as how the two countries could work together to stamp out extremism.
