A British academic has been arrested in Iran, state media has confirmed, the latest detention of dual nationals on trumped up charges by Tehran's notorious security services.
British-Iranian Abbas Edalat is a computer science professor at London's Imperial College and was traveling to Iran for academic purposes on an "unknown date", Reuters reported.
Iran's notorious Revolutionary Guards detained Edalat in mid-April confiscating a computer, CDs and notepads, the agency reported.
Iran's government gave scant information about his arrest.
"I confirm his arrest on security charges, but I am unable to give details," said judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejehi.
Edalat was a member of the US-based Campaign Against Sanctions and Military Intervention in Iran (CASMII), which campaigned against Western intervention in Iran.
Semi-official state news agency Fars reported that he had been detained for being part of an "infiltration network affiliated with Britain".
Tehran regularly detains dual nationals when they enter Iran, usually on trumped up charges such as spying and espionage.

Among them is mother-of-three Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who is also being also held on trumped on spying charges.
