West Bank raids sees ten Palestinians, including teenagers, detained by Israel

Israeli forces detained ten Palestinians, including four teenagers, whilst carrying out raids across the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian activists and media.

Israeli soldiers carried out raids in the occupied Palestinian districts of Bethlehem, Jenin, Tulkarem, Qalqilia, Ramallah and Jerusalem on Monday afternoon according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS), beatinga number of civilians and looting homes of refugees, activists say.

The teenagers detained were from Ramallah, Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

One unidentified teenager was detained in the village of Kobar - northwest Ramallah.

Two other teenagers, both aged 15, were taken from the Shufat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem.

Israeli forces detained four Palestinians, including a 16-year-old teen, from the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem. Three were taken from the city of Beit Jala and the fourth was taken from the town of Battir.

Two homes were looted during raids in both Jenin and Tulkarem - with one member of each family detained, according to activists.

Israeli forces carried out a raid in Tulkarem village of Shufa, where soldiers rounded up a former prisoner.

The detainee's sister was beaten by Israeli police and left hospitalised as a result of her injuries, according to Palestinian news agencies.

The home that was looted in Jenin was one that belonged to a refugee family in a camp, PPS reported.

Overnight, the northern West Bank city of Qalqilia was raided and one Palestinian was detained.

Witnesses said soldiers ransacked the home of a young man before physically assaulting his sister and stealing cash from their house.

Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967. More than 600,000 Israelis live in settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

All Israeli settlements across the occupied West Bank are classed as illegal under international law, particularly Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which asserts that "the occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies".

Israeli forces and settlers routinely attack Palestinians in the occupied territories, demolishing their homes, poisoning their livestock and vandalising their properties.
