Kuwait has moved a step closer to paying 600 million dinars ($1.99 billion) in bonuses to frontline workers who helped tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
The draft law will now go to Kuwaiti Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Sabah for approval, a statement read.
The minister's statement followed this week's cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah warned cabinet members that hospital admissions and critical care patients remain "on an upward trajectory", according to Kuwait's KUNA state news agency.
The health minister also highlighted that the Covid-19 recovery rate has reached 93 percent.
Kuwait's coronavirus outbreak has seen 229,550 cases of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in March last year.
