The president of Libya's National Oil Corporation council has promised to raise a law-suit in response to faltering production from the Feel and Sharara oil fields in west Libya.

Mustafa Sana-Allah told reporters he blamed Mohammed Bashir al-Qarj, the commander of the oil fields' security forces in Riyayina province, for the loss of public revenue.

"[Qarj] is primarily responsible for stopping the production from the fields of al-Feel and al-Sharara oil fields and wasting more than $27billion of public money," Sana-Allah said.

"Daily production will increase soon and we will get close to the barrier of 600,000 barrels a day [nationally]."

The president made the comments while visiting the Defa oil production plant, which produces 50,000 barrels of oil a day.
