Syria regime forces shelled a centre for a local paramedic group in central Syria on Saturday, killing at least one member and wounding three others, the group and an opposition war monitor said.

The opposition's Syrian Civil Defense, also known as White Helmets, said its centre was shelled in the village of Kastoun. A video released by the group showed the heavily damaged one-storey structure.

One paramedic was killed and three were wounded in the shelling, the White Helmets and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Frontlines between regime forces and opposition fighters have witnessed bombardment over the last weeks.

The area had been relatively calm after Russia and Turkey agreed on a cease-fire in March 2020, which halted a Russian-backed regime offensive on the last rebel stronghold in Syria.
