The son of Osama bin Laden has been found dead, according to United States media reports, but jihadists who support al-Qaeda are doubting his death.

Hamza bin Laden rumoured be the heir to his late father has been reported dead, according to intelligence apparently obtained by the United States.

News outlet NBC News, who first reported bin Laden’s death, say three US officials leaked information of his death – but refused to say if the US played any role in it.

It is unclear where the place of his reported death is and when he died.

Hamza bin Laden, apparently the favourite son of Osama bin Laden, was seen as the reviver of al-Qaeda after its popularity dwindled with the growth of the Islamic State group.

In 2016, he recorded a landmark video claiming the comeback of al-Qaeda, sparking fears his age and charisma would resurge support for the militant group.

In the video he expressed solidarity with his late father, claiming “we are all Osama” – at the time believed to be in his mid 20’s.
