An 18-year-old Palestinian schoolgirl died late on Monday from injuries she received when Israeli troops shot her 9 days ago in the West Bank city of Jenin.

The Palestinian health ministry issued a statement saying that Hanan Mahmoud Khadour was shot in the stomach as she travelled to her secondary school on 9 April, while Israeli forces had been attacking Jenin.

The young woman was then transferred to hospital, official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

Mourning Khadour's loss, Palestinians on Tuesday carried her body through Jenin to her village, Faqqua, around 11 kilometres to the city's east where she was buried, The New Arab's Arabic-language service reported.

Around 4,000 people attended the funeral, which took place in the morning.

Israel has made repeated raids on Jenin over the past few weeks, following attacks in Israel that killed a total of 14 people.

Israeli forces have killed more than two dozen Palestinians across the West Bank during this period, including an unarmed woman shot dead because she looked "suspicious" as she walked close to a checkpoint near Bethlehem.

Ghada Ibrahim Ali Sabateen was killed the day after Khadour was shot, despite her holding her hands above her head as she ran away from the troops who opened fire at her, graphic footage showed.

Sabateen was a widow and left six children behind.

Israeli forces and hundreds of settlers have repeatedly and violently stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, beginning on Friday, causing over 170 injuries as of Sunday.
