A 16-year-old Palestinian boy died on Thursday morning from injuries sustained when Israeli forces shot him in the occupied West Bank in September.

Mohammed Fadi Nouri was shot in the abdomen last month at the northern entrance to Al-Bireh, a city near Ramallah in the central West Bank.

The Palestinian Authority's health ministry announced Nouri's death in a brief statement, The New Arab's Arabic-language sister site, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, reported.

Nouri was buried at the Al-Bireh cemetery on Thursday following a funeral procession, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

Nouri's death means 174 Palestinians have now been killed so far in 2022, 41 of them children, Palestinian health ministry figures showed.

Of the 174 dead, 123 were killed in the West Bank while 51 lost their lives in the besieged Gaza Strip.

According to media reports, Nouri was from Beitunia, a city close to Ramallah.

On Wednesday, a Palestinian man wanted by Israel for killing an Israeli soldier in an 8 October attack at an East Jerusalem checkpoint was shot dead in a clash outside an illegal settlement, according to Israeli authorities.

Guards at the entrance to the West Bank settlement of Maale Adumim, one of whom was wounded, exchanged fire with Udai Tamimi, police said.

In response to Tamimi's death, Palestinian schools and shops have closed in occupied East Jerusalem and a general strike is taking place in the West Bank.
