The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Iran-aligned Houthi group in Yemen said early on Thursday it targeted a central security forces camp in Yemen's Sanaa, state TV reported.

"The operation in Sanaa is an immediate response after destroying a drone launched towards Jizan," it added, referring to a city in western Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea.

The state TV report said that the attack destroyed seven drones and weapons storehouses at the camp.

Yemen has been torn apart by war since 2014 when Houthi rebels captured the capital Sanaa, forcing the government south.

The Saudi-led coalition aiding government forces entered the conflict in March 2015, but a years-long stalemate has caused the world's worst humanitarian disaster and the killing of hundreds of thousands of people.
