Drag queen superstar Scarlet Envy has taken to Twitter to thank fellow Lebanese drag queen Anya Kneez for creating the dress she wore on the latest episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race Allstars.

“What I love most about this look is how it is made by a queer, Lebanese designer who has never designed for @RuPaulsDragRace! Anya Kneez made my promo too, & she is largely credited for growing the drag scene in Beirut. This collab!!!” he wrote.

Kneez designed a flowing, roman style dress, featuring a print of the painting Birth of Venus by 19th century French painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau.

“Ru-demption look for @scarletenvy designed and made by yours truly!! I am so happy to see my work on such a global platform and I am so proud to be a part of Scarlet’s all stars journey,” wrote Kneez on Instagram, posting a picture of the dress.

The dress was worn by Envy for the runway section of the competition, the theme of which was “Rudemption Runway”, and helped her to secure her place going forward in the contest.

Fellow competitor Silky Nutmeg Ganache was eliminated from the competition.

Kneez is known for being one of the first drag queens in Beirut, which despite its liberal nature, still harbours a number of conservative attitudes.

The dress designed by Kneez proved to be a big hit on social media, with fans of the show taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

“Hands down one of the best f***ing looks ever on drag race! Proud of my angels and yes to us Lebanese. Proud of u keep shining,” wrote one commenter.

“This actually is an amazing collaboration, you always looked good but this one was stunning,” wrote another.

“Beautiful dress and incredible talent! We stan a Lebanese queen,” added a different Twitter user.

Writing on Instagram, Kneez explained that the dress was “hand draped / hand sewn / hand beaded”.

“Love you miss @scarletenvy we have come a long way from making gowns in our dorm room. Here’s to many more fantasies to be made together!”he added.
