Sudan secured its spot at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 after beating Libya 1-0 in Doha.

Sudanese centre-forward Mohammed Abdelrahman found the back of the net in a penalty just 15 minutes into the game.

Despite efforts from Libya, Sudan managed to waive off all attempts for the entirety of the game at the Khalifa International Stadium, where hundreds of vaccinated fans attended under strict precautionary measures.

The victors now join hosts Qatar, Iraq, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Algeria at the tournament.

The remaining qualifier matches, all being held in Doha this week, will determine the final six participants.

Qatar will be hosting the first ever FIFA Arab Cup from 30 November to 18 December, just one year ahead of the much-anticipated FIFA World Cup 2022 in the Gulf state.
