Tunisia's parliament on Monday condemned an agreement between the UAE and Israel to normalise relations, Anadolu Agency reported.

The deal was regarded by the parliament as an "infringement of the Palestinian people's rights", the report said.

In a statement, the parliament emphasised "its principled stand" with the Palestinian cause.

It also blasted the deal in light of recent strikes and planned annexation of Palestinian territories.

Israeli fighter jets are carrying out strikes on Hamas facilities in the Gaza strip after a "rocket" was fired from the Hamas-controlled enclave towards the Jewish state.

The UAE and Israel announced last Thursday that they would normalise relations under a 'historic' US-sponsored deal, making the emirates the third Arab state - after Egypt and Jordan – to form diplomatic ties with the country.

Under the agreement, Israel said it would suspend its planned annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank, a concession welcomed by European and some pro-Western Arab governments.

However, Netanyahu has since said the annexation plans have only temporarily been put on hold.

Palestinian groups have publicly denounced the deal, saying it does nothing to serve the Palestinian cause.
