An Israeli vessel was targeted in an attack while sailing towards the United Arab Emirates from the Saudi port of Jeddah, reports said on Saturday.

Images shown on the pro-Hezbollah Lebanese Al-Mayadeen channel showed fire emerging from the Israeli cargo ship Tyndall.

“A fire is burning on an Israeli cargo ship in the northern Indian Ocean,” the report said, confirming it had been struck by an unidentified weapon.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Neither Saudi Arabia nor the UAE have commented on the matter, however Israel’s Channel 12 said military officials are looking into the attack to determine whether Iran had any involvement in the assault.

The Israeli report said the crew has been left unharmed and no serious damage was caused to the vessel.
