A number of bizarre videos and pictures have emerged of a man dressed as Barney the dinosaur, falling from a parade float during celebrations for Ashura in Lebanon.
The video has been shared widely on social media under the hashtag "Barney, Oh Amal" (#بارني_يا_امل) and a number of Lebanese media stations have shown it on TV.
In the video, the man can be seen dancing on the float in a parade in Dahieh until he falls off. He is then helped up by security agents from the Shia organisation Amal.Ashura is traditionally a very serious and sombre affair, where silence, mourning and even self-flagellation dominate the commemoration.
