A new advertisement by Real Madrid Football superstar Christiano Ronaldo in Egypt has gone viral as part of the new campaign he had started with his new partner, Egyptian businessman, Ahmed Abu Hashima.

The campaign, which features Ronaldo in Egypt's streets and historical sites, aims to empower the young generation of Egypt.

"Very excited to introduce the first reveal of my campaign with #Egyptian_Steel and glad to partner with #ahmed_abouhashima in such an amazing project… Stay tuned for the second reveal," the Portuguese footballer said in a Facebook post.

Abu Hashima, the founder CEO of Egyptian Steel, which is sponsoring the campaign, also tweeted about the new partnership, describing Ronaldo as the brand ambassador of the company.

Anticipation for the long-awaited campaign had been building up with dozens of billboards in Cairo's streets featuring photos of Ronaldo without any explanation.
However, many expectations fell short as the ad finally made its way online.

It did not take experts to notice that there was something off about the ad, which was apparently made using a body double, a green screen, and special effects.

This prompted social media users to jokingly comment about how the campaign had a tight budget when it came to flying the football star to Egypt to shoot the ad himself, despite the large sum of money he must have received for agreeing to take part in the campaign.
Translation: Ronaldo's ad is not only bad because it represents Abu Hashima's gift to the Sisi regime, but it is also technically catastrophic, because he is obviously photoshopped into Egypt, which defeats the purpose.

Ronaldo had previously hinted about his upcoming venture with Ahmed Abu Hashima on Twitter.

Earlier this month, Ronaldo's family visited the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, as well as the Red Sea resort town of Sharm al-Sheikh to attend the inauguration of the region's biggest water park.
The President of Red Sea Tourism Investment Association Kamel Abo Aly said at the time that the purpose of the Ronaldo family visit was to promote Egyptian tourism, and affirm that Egypt is a safe country to visit.
