Fans pay tribute to Egyptian superstar Hassan Mustafa

After a long battle with illness, Egyptian actor Hassan Mustafa has died in Cairo, aged 81.
His daughter confirmed his death today on Facebook. Thousands of tweets have been posted in the past couple of hours from all over the Arab world, bidding farewell to the star of stage and screen.
Saudi poet Abdel-latif Alshaikh led mourners, saying: "May Hassan Mustafa rest in peace and may he be granted paradise."
Mustafa's grandson also tweeted in sadness: "May my grandfather rest in peace, he was a great man and will remain as such."
The actor was best known for his outstanding comedy roles in all-time Arab favourite plays Madraset el-Moshaghbeen ["The School of Mischief"] and Al Ayal Kibrit ["The Kids Have Grown Up"].
Generations after generations in the Arab world have enjoyed a good laugh watching his works broadcast every Eid on national and regional television.
Many fans said goodbye by remembering his many roles.

Hassan Mustafa has been one of the greatest contributors to Arab and Egyptian theatre, and managed to make us Arab audiences laugh each and every time as if it were the first.
