Turkey's celebrity meme factory Nusret Gökçe, better known as #saltbae, has cast his vote in Turkey's landmark referendum.

The Turkish chef achieved worldwide stardom with viral videos that end with a flamboyant dash of salt.

Now exercising his civil duties, the world famous chef applied his trademark sprinkling style to democracy.

On Sunday, he shared a picture to Instagram in the polling station.

A bemused official looks on as he places an envelope in the ballot box with signature flair.

The caption, translated from Turkish, reads: Job done #saltbae #saltlife#salt.

It remains to be seen how he voted.

Over 55.3 million Turks are able to vote in the country's historic referendum on sweeping changes to the president's role.

If passed, it would grant Recep Tayyip Erdogan more power than any Turkish leader since its founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
